Tools and Hardware Reviews of Freud FT2200EP 3-1/4-Horsepower Variable Speed Plunge Router with Free Edge GuideCustomer Review: Freud's economy line router...big bang for the buck Summary: 5 Stars
Hey, this is from Randy, the uncertified Northwoods mechanic/capenter/guide home fix-it guy. EH?
I just got the Freud 3/14 H variable speed plunge router as a gift to myself, after having sworn at, kicked, and almost thrown my venerable OLD Sears fixed base monster.
what's not to like? I was suspicious at first, a REAL Freud for $115. But it stacks up nicely, like the firewood outside my homemade wood stove.
The plunge mechanism works flawlessly. Smooth and accurate. EASY bit changes, I mean in seconds, and the nice folks at Freud even include a 1/4" collet to expand the possibilities of wood butchering.Wish they'd included a nut. Variable speeds unlike my Craftsman...(I'd used a Harbor Freight router speed set up with no issues with but its AWESOME to dial the speed in. I do have to say I don't like the position of the on/off switch, but I think its because I automatically search the handle for it still. Handles are a good fit for my huge hands. The dial up mechanism at first looked flimsy, but its not.
I give this router a big FIVE STARS and think, compared to the others in its price range, it stands above the pack.
