Customer Review: Great blade, even when used as an all-purpose blade.

Shopping for a new blade for my 7 1/4 inch circular saw, I noticed that carbide blades run between $6 and $20. ANY carbide blade will last several hundred or even several thousand cuts. Doing the math, swapping blades to cut a few two by fours saves some tiny fraction of fourteen bucks each time. It probably saves even less because a blade with 60 teeth will almost certainly dull slower than one with 24; in theory, each blade is doing less than half the work.
So I asked myself; "How often will I actually change blades between cuts at that price?" My answer: "Almost never." With that in mind, I'd always just get any cheap 60 tooth carbide blade for great cut quality, and use it up. So what if my rough cuts come out much smoother than they need to? I could get a spare, but a store stocking blades is about two miles away, so why bother?
This time, I figured at under $25, why not try a high end product? Why not splurge for a Freud once?
WOW. I am extremely pleased with the quality of this blade. It's much smoother than the cheap "made in China" blades I'd previously used, even though they also had sixty teeth. This extra smoothness is evident both when the teeth start to bite, and in mid cut when the exposed blade is deep in wood. The Freud has stayed sharp for a lot longer than prior blades, and every cut has been as expected or better. Very little tearout and no burning. The "permashield" coating has also helped more than once when I had a little less support on the stock than I should have and the kerf started to close. It doesn't work miracles, but it's nice to have a bit more warning to straighten things up to avoid a blade stall.
The only time I bother to change blades now is when I suspect there may be nails or other metal in the stock. Then it's back to a cheap 24 tooth for a few minutes.
Thanks to this Freud D0760X, I've purchased Freud blades for all my saws. I'll try other respected name brands later, but for now, Freud is it.
