The molding bit features a kickback-reducing design for safety, and it's computer-balanced to insure vibration-free operation at speeds that are a safe margin above the typical 22,000 rpm of most routers.

Who needs a shaper when you have a big router and a bit like this!
This Freud bit is a beast... big and heavy and very well machined. Designed for use in a router table application only however because of its size and design.
I have created quite a few feet of crown molding now with this bit, and it pretty much saved itself on price after about only 5 feet! Buing crown molding off the shelf at hardware stores is VERY expensive. Even though the cost of this bit is on the upper end of the scale for router bits, as mentioned, you will easily save money in the long run if you have some crown molding you need to install.
The edges are very sharp and the final finish is very smooth. Would only need the lightest of sanding just for the paint or finish to adhere to.
Very happy with this bit. Good quality.
